| On 17th August 2006, the National Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NTC) conveyed its resolution to approve the establishment of Telecommunications Research and Industrial Development Institute or TRIDI. As a part of National Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NTC), TRIDI was established to operate according to the missions and duties, stated in Section 51(15) and (16) of the Act of the Organization for Radio Frequency Allocation and Broadcasting and Telecommunications Service Control, B.E. 2543, as detailed below 1) Promote trainings and development of telecommunications and information technology Human Resources. 2) Promote and support research and development of telecommunications technology, information technology, telecommunications industry and continuous industry. |

| Missions | |
| To promote technological research and development of telecommunications industry and personnel under the National Telecommunications Commission 's Master Plan No. 2 in order to develop technological research and telecommunications industry development, TRIDI has set 3 missions to achieve as follows 1. Telecommunications Personnel Development Promotion Operational processes are 1) To set up scholarship-granting regulation for personnel development. 2) To produce personnel database and telecommunications personnel development plan 3) To grant scholarship for postgraduate level, including Master Degree and Ph.D. Degree. 4) To support the creation of telecommunications industrial knowledge. 2. Telecommunications Technology Research Promotion Operational processes are 1) To build network of strategic technological research. 2) To set telecommunications technological trend and research strategy. 3) To provide intellectual properties management for supporting the access and the registration of intellectual properties. 4) To create cooperation between enterprisers and researchers to achieve research works that can be developed commercially. 3. Telecommunications Industry Development Promotion Operational processes are 1) To explore the competence of Thai manufacturing industry and make strategic plan for it. 2) To promote the development of Thai companies's products. 3) To promote the development of products for services (Universal Services Obligation: USO and Public Services Obligation: PSO). 4) To promote the transference of technology. 5) To develop policies or regulations, which promote industrial development. 6) To promote market development for the new entrepreneurs or the new products. |
